Rangers Lead the Way! Salute to General Downing

Rangers Lead the Way, Sir!!

The most appropriate tribute to my former commander I can think of. General Downing was the SOCOM Commander when I was a Ranger. My favorite challenge was the Downing Mile located on the WWII Airborne School on the hill near Lawson Army Airfield. Stories circulated around 2d Bn about our former Bn Cdr. He was as much a legend there as Col Darby or Major Roberts.

It was a surprise to hear he was ill, but no surprise he kept the news of it quiet. He will be sorely missed in the Army community, but especially missed in the Spec Ops & Ranger communities.

HOOHAH, SIR!!!!
